Praise the dog and let him eat the treat immediately when he lies down. Say «Yes!» or «Good dog!» and then give the treat (or click the clicker). The moment his elbows, rear end, and belly touch the floor, that’s when you give the praise and the treat – not before!

Give a release command. You can say, «Ok!» or «Up!» and then clap your hands or take some steps backward to get him to stand up.

Repeat. After he stands back up, repeat these steps immediately 5-15 times after he gets it the first time, depending on what his attention span allows. This much repetition in the beginning will help him to remember what to do.

Practice the steps above twice per day. Try to keep each training session short and simple, about 10 minutes each time. Once he gets it easily each time, you’ll be ready to move onto gradually removing the treats. Some dogs will be ready to move on after only a day or two of those steps; others will need more practice. • Keep the treats nearby and give him one as soon as he lies down and stays, and be sure to give praise. If he refuses to lie down without seeing a treat, you can try this «fake out» trick: lure him into the lying down position with a treat just like in the first section quickly 4 times in a row.
• The last time, quickly do it without the treat. He will probably lie down, thinking you have a treat. As soon as he does, say your praise («Yes!» or «Good dog!») and open your hand to show him there’s no treat.
• Then give him 3 surprise treats.

• Practice the empty hand method for 10 minutes a couple of times each day for a couple of days.

Continue shrinking the hand signal. Every couple of days, make your hand signal smaller and smaller. You will eventually have to bend over less, and finally all you’ll need to do is say «down» and point to the floor while standing up. To teach your dog to lie down, all you need are some treats and a little bit of time on your hands. First, stand in front of your dog and ask it to sit. Then, hold a treat close enough to your dog’s nose that it can smell it, and slowly lower the treat to the floor so your dog has to lie down to get it. Once your dog lies down, give it the treat and lots of praise to reinforce the behavior. If your dog tries to sit or stand back up at any point, start over from the beginning.

Once your dog lies down successfully, add a command, like «down.» As you’re lowering the treat to the floor, say the command. Repeat this process for a few days, then gradually phase the treats out by not giving one to your dog every time. Keep doing this until you’re no longer using treats and your dog responds to the command each time you say it. Это вторая фиксирующая команда, она пригодится вам для удержания собаки в определенном месте в нужном положении, например, на приеме ветеринара, в транспорте или при встрече гостей. Механика обучения

Усадите собаку командой и жестом, поднесите кусочек лакомства к пасти, но не давайте съесть его. Плавно ведите руку перпендикулярно полу вниз, побуждая собаку наклониться за лакомством. Высокий питомец скорее всего быстро и без проблем ляжет. С низкими коротконогими собаками может быть сложнее.

Также, как с командой «Сидеть», помогите собаке лечь, аккуратно надавливая ей на холку. Движения ваши одновременны , одной рукой ведете голову вниз, второй тихонько надавливаете на холку, но не перпендикулярно полу, а чуть назад. Смысл в том, чтобы помочь плечелопаточным суставам согнуться и уложить собаку. Если вы будете надавливать под неправильными углом, вы только причините собаке дискомфорт, но успеха не добьетесь.

Если же собака и в этом случае не ложится, то привлеките помощника . Рукой с лакомством вы ведете голову собаки вниз, второй нажимаете на холку, в это время помощник берет собаку за передние лапы, поднимает их и укладывает собаку. Главное, показать собаке, чего вы хотите от нее добиться. На это потребуется максимум 2-3 раза, затем она поймет, что ей надо лечь. Последовательность: привлекли внимание, усадили, уложили, ведя руку вниз, похвалили и покормили, отпустили командой «Гуляй».

Распространенные ошибки при команде «Лежать»

1. Укладывание собаки из положения стоять при первых отработках (надо из положения «Сидеть»)
2. Неправильное нажатие на холку (в область спину, а не на свод лопаток), не под тем углом, каким надо.
3. Слишком далеко вытягивают руку с лакомством вперед, в итоге собака ползет за нем либо сильно смещается.
4. Неправильный, нечеткий жест, который собака не выделяет в общей массе ваших телодвижений.
5. Каждый раз разные жесты.
6. Поощрение в момент, когда собака вскакивает, а не когда лежит.
7. Забывают про отпускающую команду «Гуляй»
8. Медленная коррекция при отработке выдержки, или отсутствие оной.
9. Поздно реагируют на изменение положения либо вовсе позволяют сойти с места
10. Команда не выделена интонационно, дается после физического воздействия, а должна перед ним.

Как научить собаку команде «Лежать» без помощи профессионала

Большинство малоопытных владельцев недооценивают команду «Лежать» и не интересуются, как научить собаку ее выполнять. Иного мнения придерживаются кинологи и психологи. Принятие псом «позы сфинкса» считается знатоками полезнейшим инструментом в арсенале дрессировщика и первым шагом в преподавании забавных трюков — «Кувырок», «Переворот», «Умри».

Роль базовой команды в воспитании собаки

«Лежать!» — посыл первостепенного значения в собачьей «школе послушания». Он позволяет держать под контролем питомца в сложных ситуациях — в гостях, многолюдных местах, общественных заведениях, на соревнованиях, конкурсах. Отданный приказ заставляет пса надолго зафиксироваться в покорном положении.

Многие собаки не в состоянии оставаться на месте длительное время. Под влиянием сильных отвлекающих факторов и стойких инстинктах команда «Сидеть» не срабатывает. В таких ситуациях питомец подхватывается и убегает от учителя-дилетанта. Выкинуть подобный фортель куда сложнее из лежачего положения, дающего дрессировщику спектр рычагов управления импульсивным воспитанником.

Отработка команды «Лежать» имеет и психологический эффект. Принимая «позу сфинкса», одомашненный хищник становится особо податливым. Бихевиористы и дрессировщики называют такое состояние «субмиссивным, или подчиненным». Воспитание покорности собаки — главная цель в сценарии обучения команде.

Предположение, что подобный подход калечит психику питомца, внушает страх или вгоняет в стресс, не подтверждается практикой. Повиновение — нормальная реакция животного в процессе дрессировки.

Необходимые приготовления

Для результативных тренировок понадобятся два условия:

• плоский 1,8-метровый поводок;
• ассортимент любимых лакомств воспитанника (к началу занятий пес должен нагулять аппетит, пребывать в тонусе и проявлять заинтересованность в учебном процессе).

Подходящее место для тренировок — безлюдная просторная площадка, на которой имеется прочный бетонный столб или металлический штырь. Крепкий журнальный столик в гостиной тоже сойдет за тренажер, если перед ним есть 2-метровое пространство.

Метод 1-й. Использование раздражителя

Главное средство обучения в этой технике — вознаграждение (съедобное, вербальное, тактильное). Оно поможет выработать привычку предвкушения, называемую биологами условным рефлексом.

• закрепите один конец поводка в нижней части выбранной опоры (столба, штыря или ножки стола), другой зафиксируйте на плоском ошейнике собаки (удавка и шипованный «строгач» не подойдут);
• поманите пса, используя лакомство, находясь на расстоянии натянутого поводка;
• дайте команду «Сидеть» для удобства дальнейших действий;
• руку с угощением поместите на уровне головы присевшего животного, в 15 см от пасти (обратите внимание: хвостатый ученик не сможет броситься вперед, чтобы схватить лакомство,- в этом смысл закрепленного поводка);
• опустите руку с угощением до уровня земли и скомандуйте «Лежать»; если собака сразу выполнит приказ, спокойно похвалите ее и вознаградите немедленно; если пес нагнет переднюю половину тела, держа заднюю в воздухе, словно решит поклониться, запаситесь терпением (приняв дискомфортную позу, подопечный окажется перед нелегким выбором — встать или лечь; подняться — значит отдалиться от аппетитной награды, находящейся в зоне доступа; наконец пес сдастся и ляжет, заслужив слова поощрения и заработанный приз;
• продолжайте спокойно хвалить «хорошего мальчика / девочку» и щедрым, размашистым жестом гладить понятливое животное от головы до спины;
• через два дня проведите занятие без поводка, но снимете его украдкой после 4-го выполнения команды «на привязи» в момент поглаживания; повторите учебный процесс и оцените поведение пса: бросился к призу — не готов к тренировке без поводка; дайте пару дней на исправление; со временем метод сработает.

Дрессируя собаку, сначала изучите команду «Сидеть», а после — «Лежать». Иначе пес будет путаться в приказах.

Метод 2-й. Физическое воздействие

Второй способ тренировки известен как техника «старой школы», в которой при выборе стимула предпочтение отдавалось не «прянику» (как в первом методе), а «кнуту».

• поместите собаку сбоку, у левой ноги, и присядьте на корточки;
• дайте команду «Лежать» и потяните вниз поводок, рванув рукой либо наступив на него ногой;
• к этому принудительному жесту добавьте мягкое надавливание свободной рукой на плечи собаки;
• освободите натяжение поводка и давление на холку, когда пес начнет ложиться;
• хвалите ученика, оказавшегося в нужном положении, — так у четырехлапого воспитанника прибавятся шансы понять, чего от него хотят.

Неопытным владельцам больших собак не рекомендуется практиковать технику с физическим воздействием. Научить щенка команде «Лежать» легче с позиции сидя, а не стоя.

Метод 3-й. Свободный шейпинг

Суть способа формирования навыка — в вознаграждении лакомством промежуточных шагов собаки на пути в лежачее положение. К «мини-успехам» относятся:

• вытягивание лапы;
• склонение головы;
• сгибание дугой корпуса.

Когда пес дойдет до последнего шага и опустится, удовлетворенный результатом дрессировщик добавит вербальный сигнал: «Лежать», не забыв словесно одобрить поведение воспитанника.

Метод 4-й. Помощь друга

Учитель помогает ученику принять лежачее положение из исходной сидячей позиции:

• человек садится на корточки напротив пса, осторожно берет в руки собачьи передние конечности и тянет их вперед — без применения силы;
• если животное покорно опускается, отдается команда «Лежать»;
• если питомец откинется на бок или расслабленно вытянется, его возвращают в правильное положение, уговаривая повиноваться;
• принявший «позу сфинкса» пес получает лакомство.

Закрепительный этап тренировок

Когда собака научится выполнять команду «Лежать», потребуется усложнить условия тренировок:

• увеличить расстояние между дрессировщиком и животным — до 40 шагов;
• продлить время лежачего положения — до 10-15 секунд;
• использовать отвлекающие маневры — сначала стать спиной, повернувшись лицом к животному; затем перестать к поворачиваться; потом походить вокруг лежащего пса.

В начале закрепительного этапа не рекомендуется прыгать, бегать, делать резких движений, которые заставят пса нарушить команду. Ассортимент отвлекающих факторов добавьте позже, когда придет полная уверенность в усвоении материала подопечным.

Практика показывает: 15-20 дней достаточно на усвоение базовой команды. Доброжелательность и оптимизм учителя помогут хвостатому ученику справиться с поставленной задачей и скорее добиться результата. Главное — не повторять тренировки ежедневно, чтобы не превратить полезное занятие в обязаловку и принудиловку.
